Guided Birding Walks
With ornithologists Dr Kate Carstens and Cassie Carstens
Two-hour guided birding walks are offered by two ornithologists in Hogsback: Dr Kate Carstens, Project Manager of the Cape Parrot project and Cassie Carstens, Research Manager of the Cape Parrot Project.
The walk begins and ends in the Hogsback Aboretum (-32.593149, 26.935499). Mornings are recommended but we can offer afternoon guided walks which have been fruitful.
The walk follows an easy trail through the Hogsback State Forest, focussing on forest specials that might include: Cape Parrot, Orange Ground Thrush, Bush Blackcap, Brown Scrub Robin, White-starred Robin, Dark-backed Weaver, Blue-mantled Crested Flycatcher, Narina Trogon, Knysna Turaco, Yellow-throated Woodland Warbler, Olive Woodpecker, Knysna Woodpecker, Grey Cuckooshrike, Lemon Dove, Emerald Cuckoo, Black Cuckoo, and others.
Costs: R300 per group of 1-2 people. R400 for 3-4 people.
